Slow by Design

Linden Green Studio / Behind the making

Slow by Design.

My philosophy, my craft and my promise to you

Think about the things in your home you love most. Maybe it’s a mug that fits your hands just right, or a blanket that’s been with you through every winter. Chances are, they weren’t rushed. Someone took care when making them, and you can feel it.

That’s how I want my candles to feel. Here’s what I believe, how each candle is made, and what you can always count on from me.

Slow by Design — Linden Green Studio
Thoughtfully made. Honestly considered. Never rushed.

01 / My philosophy

A quieter pace.
A little closer
to nature.

Nature has always known how to bring us back to ourselves.

I believe the things we welcome into our homes should reflect the same care we bring to the lives we live inside them. That’s why I make candles slowly, with honest materials, to invite a quieter pace.

Every collection begins with a place, a season, a feeling or a moment worth keeping. I scent every candle with pure essential oils only, letting the plants themselves shape each blend. Essential oils can only smell like what nature makes, and I’ve come to love that limit. It keeps every scent real. Meet five of those moments in the Prelude Edition.

Lighting a candle is about more than filling a room with scent. It’s about returning to a feeling, and maybe staying there a little longer.

02 / My craft

From idea to your home.

Every candle begins long before the wax. Here’s the journey each one takes.

  1. It starts with a moment.

A sunrise. Shade on a hot day. Embers glowing after the fire. Before I open a single bottle, I know the feeling I want the candle to hold.

  2. The blend takes shape.

I create every essential oil blend myself, through months of testing and refining. I pull one oil back, add another, and try again until the scent captures that feeling. I never choose ready-made blends from a supplier’s catalogue. Every blend starts from scratch. Read how a candle’s scent unfolds.

  3. Then comes the testing.

A beautiful scent isn’t enough. It also has to burn beautifully. I test the wick size, the amount of essential oil, the pouring temperature and how long the candle rests. Each candle goes through several rounds of testing before it earns a place in a collection.

  4. Poured by hand.

Every candle is poured by hand, in small batches, in my studio in Ontario, Canada.

  5. Time to rest.

After pouring, the candles rest, or cure. This gives the wax and essential oils time to settle together, so the scent is ready when you light it.

  6. The finishing touches.

Once cured, every candle is inspected, cleaned, labelled and packaged by hand.

Small batches are slower. That’s the point.

03 / My promise to you

Care you can
count on.

The things we keep quietly become part of our lives. They mark celebrations, sit with us through hard seasons, and warm the ordinary moments that somehow become the ones we remember.

Here’s what you can always count on:

  • I will name every essential oil in every blend.
  • I will never use fragrance oils.
  • If I ever change an ingredient, I’ll tell you what changed and why.

And I’ll keep making every candle with the same care, curiosity and intention that began Linden Green Studio: thoughtfully made, honestly considered and never rushed.

Thank you for making room for my candles in your home.
