Why I Make Candles
This Way
What makes a Linden Green Studio candle different, and why it costs more.
It’s one of the most common questions I’m asked: Why does your candle cost more than the ones at the store?
It’s a great question. The answer comes down to three things: what goes in, how it’s made, and who makes it.
What goes in
Every Linden Green Studio candle is made with just a few ingredients:

Coconut-apricot wax
The foundation of the candle.

A natural FSC wooden wick
Made from wood that comes from responsibly managed forests.

Pure essential oils
Never fragrance oils.
That’s it. And I name every essential oil in every blend, so you always know what’s filling your home.
Real plants cost more
Think about the difference between fresh-squeezed orange juice and orange drink crystals. Both taste like orange. But one is made from real oranges, and one is made to taste like them. The real thing costs more, because it takes real fruit to make it.
Essential oils work the same way. They come from real flowers, leaves, peels, woods and roots. It can take a huge amount of plant material to make one small bottle of oil. Weather, harvests and growing seasons all affect how much is available each year.
Fragrance oils can be made in a lab in large amounts for much less. That’s one reason many candles cost less. It’s also why I’ll never switch.
Made in small batches
Big candle companies make thousands of candles at once on machines. I make mine in small batches, by hand, in Ontario.
Small batches let me pay attention to every candle. I check how the wax sets and how each wick sits, and I give every jar a final look before it’s labelled and packed. If something isn’t right, it doesn’t go out the door.

Made by one person
When you buy a Linden Green Studio candle, you’re not buying from a factory. You’re buying from me.
I create every blend, pour every candle and pack every order myself. When you light one, you’re lighting something that was made with your moment in mind.

When you choose one of my candles, you’re choosing:

A candle worth slowing down for
I could make candles faster. I could make them cheaper. But they wouldn’t be the candles I believe in.
I make them this way because you deserve to know what’s in your home, and because the quiet moments in your life deserve something real.
