It starts before anyone arrives. The oven has been on since mid-morning, the window above the sink has gone soft with steam, and there’s orange peel on the cutting board.

Sweet orange comes first, soft and candied at the edges, like peel left on a warm counter. Cardamom cracks open beside it, and dry ginger follows, the warm kind measured from a jar for baking.
Then the oven door opens. Nutmeg, cinnamon leaf and a little clove bud land somewhere between spiced cake and gingerbread just out of the tin, while a trace of star anise lingers at the back.
Underneath, guaiacwood brings a gentle, smoky warmth. Atlas cedarwood, Virginia cedarwood and amyris gather round like a kitchen that’s been working since morning, and balsam fir keeps one cold green thread running through it all: the tree in the next room.

How to Use
Your Christmas morning ritual: light it while the coffee’s on, before anyone else is up, so the house smells like the day before the day begins. It travels through a home, so it works best in the kitchen or the hall.
- On the first burn, let the wax melt fully to the edges, about 3–4 hours.
- Trim the wooden wick to 1/8 inch before each burn.
- Burn no more than 4 hours at a time, and stop when ½ inch of wax remains.
- Never leave a burning candle unattended.
